Bruce Brown - South Bend Central High School, 1930-32
Bruce Brown competed for South Bend Central High School and won the diving event in 1930-31 and 1931-32.









Jack Carney - South Bend Central High School, 1937-39
Jack Carney competed for South Bend Central High School and won the 220 yard freestyle in 1936-37, the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events in 1937-38, and the 40 yard freestyle in 1938-39.











James Cook – Hammond High School 1935 & 1938
James Cook dove for Hammond High School, and won the diving events in 1935-36, and 1937-38.  The event was not contested in 1936-37.











John Kujawa - South Bend Central High School, 1937-41
JJohn Kujawa, a South Bend Central High School graduate, won the 50 yard freestyle state championship in 1939-40 and 1940-41.  He also won the 100 yard freestyle events in 1938-39, and 1939-40.












Fred Noble - South Bend Central High School, 1931-32
Fred Noble swam for South Bend Central High School, and was the first ever state champion in the 50 yard freestyle in 1931-32. In addition, he won the 100 yard freestyle events in 1930-31 and 1931-32, as well as the 40 yard freestyle in 1930-31










Bob Marsh - South Bend Central High School, 1933-35
Bob Marsh swam for South Bend Central High School, setting the state record time winning the 50 yard freestyle in 1933-34, as well as the 100 freestyle events in 1933-34 and 1934-35.










Walter Meyn – Hammond High School, 1933-36
Walter Meyn swam for Hammond High School and won the 100 yard backstroke events three straight years, from 1933-34 to 1935-36. Walter set the state record mark in the 100 yard backstroke his senior year.










Ted Thomas - Hammond High School, 1933-36
Ted Thomas swam for Hammond High School, and won the 100 yard butterfly-breaststroke championship for three straight years from 1933-34 to 1935-36. He swam state record times in this event during his junior and senior years.










John Walsh - Gary Mann High School, 1935-37
John Walsh, from Gary Mann High School, won the 40 yard freestyle state championship in 1935-36 and 1936-37.  He also won the 100 yard freestyle event in 1936-37.  John set state record marks in both events in 1936-37.

1900-1940
Rudolph “Rudy” W. Kominski, Gary Horace Mann High School (1932-56) 
Rudy Kominski coached his high school boys swim team to two state championship team titles, one in 1936-37, and one in 1952-53. Horace Mann also finished as state runner-up in 1941.  Over the course of his career, his teams produced 14 individual state champions.  An interesting fact about Rudy was that he could not swim.  His athletes always threw him in the shallow end of the pool after a big victory. 













Orville Parmenter, Whiting High School (1931-1942) 
Orville Parmenter coached high school swimming from 1931 until 1942. His teams won a state championship title in 1932-33. He coached 13 individual state champions.













Hanley Staley, Hammond High School (1939-43) 
Hanley Staley coached boys swimming at Hammond High School from 1939 until 1943. Each of his years at Hammond his teams won a state championship team title, for a total of four. Along the way, he coached 10 individual state champions as well.














John Wilmore, South Bend Central High School (1932-40)
John Wilmore coached South Bend Central swimmers from 1932 until 1940. His Central squads won six team titles. Over the course of his career, John worked with 26 individual state champions.
